Landlord - home office / working from home allowances
As a Landlord can I claim the £6 per week working from home allowance to cover costs incurred with use of home facilities to deal with letting matters? I do use a letting agent to manage the property, but have to make phone calls; use the internet and stationary from my own home on a regular basis to help deal with issues. I do not keep accurate records of this and so wondered if this allowance was considered appropriate or not?

It’s still an income stream that involves some home working, so I don’t see why you can’t claim.Goodform said:

Worth noting that the £6/week allowance is being abolished from 6 April 2026.
This was announced in the November 2025 budget.

Different income streams have different rules.
The £6 per week working from home allowance only applies to employees who are contractually obliged to work from home.
However, allowable expenses/deductions for property income generally follow trading income rules.
These links explain the trading income rules with examples which may be helpful:

In that case you can't claim the flat £6 allowance as thats for employees obliged to wfh by their employer. You can claim reasonable expenses though, per the Post above.Goodform said:
