Cahoot Simple Saver (4.05%) and Cahoot Sunny Day Saver (5% on balances up to £3k) are both decent savings accounts. If you open each one through Topcashback you also get 2 x £25 cashback too. Cahoot are part of Santander, and transfers are instant.

There are some more in the 2nd post in this thread too - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6392978/top-easy-access-acs-ranked-top-of-the-pots-no-chat/p1

Although it could be better for you to open ISA's first, as tax-free - https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/best-cash-isa/

Here's a thread which keeps on top of current cashback offers for opening bank/saving accounts (the first post has the current ones) https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6635598/the-cashback-for-bank-or-investment-accounts-discussion-thread/p1

Thank you so much Linz for taking the time to give me this information.

Years ago I used to use quidco but I got out of the habit of using cashback sites so will have a look at topcash.

I think I have an ISA open somewhere but will need to look into it - not sure if I need to close one before opening another.

No problem. If you sign up using a link from someone who has a Topcashback account you'll get £10 extra once you have £10 as confirmed cashback. 👍

Also- don't close an ISA if you do have one. Do an ISA balance transfer to keep it all in the tax wrapper. Youd have to see which ISAs allow transfers in as some don't. You can have multiple ISAs. Good luck 🙂

Thank you again.  Good to know I don't close an ISA and will look to do an ISA balance transfer.

Not much to report today Ddog is not well, he has been really sick so have just spent the day lounging on the sofa with him - well apart from cleaning up and washing his bed.

A day on the couch has done us both some good.   Still to check the banking but no spends apart from yesterdays shopping so everything should be the same as before.

4 days since I posted - slipping already.

Been a horrible week at work.  Been a busy horrible week at work.  So glad to work from home today as I have been shattered the last few days.

Anyway finance wise the figures currently:

Petrol £120.00 left till pay day
Food £170.22 left till pay day
Ad Hoc £682.82 left till pay day.

I have also been keeping an eye on gas and electricity.   Last week we spent £32.08 on electricity (although the smart meter isn't showing electricity for 6th) Gas was £34.74.

Hoping when I check on Monday this week as been a bit less.

    Slipping again.

So tired this week.  Not long home from work.   Thankfully DH off today so he has walked the dog.

I have put the gammon in the oven for dinner tonight.  Just DH and I for dinner tonight.

So last weeks figures for Gas and Electric - Electric £31.39  Gas £28.33 so slightly less than the week before.  Hopefully I can keep reducing this week by week.

Finance figures are:  Petrol £120.00 to last till pay day next week (will need some petrol though)
                                      Food: £113.41
                                      Ad Hoc: £576.38

1 Week left till payday so hopefully will have a decent amount left to save/over pay.

Off work this week as holidays to use before the end of the holiday year.

So figures for last month - Petrol Left over £90.00, Ad Hoc £483.13 Food £63.49, Total £636.62

I have moved this left over to another account till I decide where to move it to.

Total Debt beginning of January was £19856.66 and beginning of February £19,250.69.

This month my sister has a big birthday so will be a bit spendy but will try and keep it as low as possible.

Current month started 29th January - figures left for this month - Petrol £160.00

    Food £326.52

    Ad Hoc £1,005.86

Still trying to keep the electricity and gas down as much as I can, doesn't help it has been really cold here this last week.
