WINTER is a good time to think about pruning.

It’s the perfect time to cut back deciduous fruit trees like apples, pears and berries, and roses.

Also grapevines, and large deciduous shrubs like Wisteria and Forsythia could do with a prune – which will encourage vigorous spring growth and manage size.
