Good morning again.
It's bitterly cold here, there's either thick frost or light snow out there, can't tell at the minute.
Welcome, ShelivesintheShire, keep posting!
I'm nipping to Morries as soon as they open, for a few bits and pieces.
One of our neighbours will be round tonight to see in the New Year with us.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can today.
Happy New Year to you all!16 -
Morning Scarlet and all to follow. Brr it's a cold start. Minus 2 when I got up (at silly o'clock again) and a thick frost.
And still a chance of snow on the forecast for nearer the w/e.
Another day of same old same old. Going nowhere and seeing no-one. A long phone chat with DD yesterday. They are off to a fancy dress party at a friends tonight. It's a 70's party but she's well equipped with suitable clothes from the Butlins 70s weekends they go to. DS and his DP are still well below par with the bug that hit them at the w/e. He said yesterday they were feeling marginally better and wondering if it's Covid as they have both lost their sense of taste. They will be staying put tonight.
I think I will clean the kitchen and bathroom today (it's usually a Thursday job) as tomorrow I think I will take all the decs etc down and give the room a good clean. Glittery bits all over even before I start! I think lunch and tea may be picky bits from the freezer There's a nice M & S quiche out there and some Higgidy little pies both yet to open.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, recovering, sad or lonely. Enjoy yourselves if out partying. Take care all xx

It's Hogmanay! 🏴 Bitterly cold with the promise of even colder temperatures to come. I remember midnight outings wrapped up so much that walking became more of a waddle. Tonight I'll be tucked up well before the Bells. 😁
Yesterday was a gloriously crisp frosty and bright day without even a hint of rain. I decided to drive down to not quite Glasgow to return a jacket. There's no Evri or DPD drop off points within 100 miles of here so driving it was. The brand seems to be part of a larger group so I could hand it over easily. What a delight the drive was apart from the low sun which made for challenges for part of each way, still, I really enjoyed it. There was a huge number of vehicles turning off towards Fort William, even a convoy of motor homes which would have caused headaches in the narrow and winding A82. So glad I wasn't going that way as my traffic was very light after the turn off. 😇
Today I only need to take the black bag of rubbish to the tip and pick up a TV guide. There's some more financial stuff to compile as the accountant wants more info and then I'm set for the evening. A wee glass of something cold and alcoholic will be drunk. I don't have the traditional steak pie on NY's day though thousands will.My beloved late mother would clean the house from top to bottom. Then she'd make loads of sausage rolls and a herring / beetroot salad 😩 and we'd go off to a very jolly party with all her university colleagues, it was within walking distance- great in the snow but not so when it rained. On the turn from 1999 to 2000 I was at a large outdoor gathering at the university flagpole on a large hill. Hordes all passing round and sharing wee half bottles of whisky watching the fireworks then back to one house for bowls of goose soup. Those were the days my friend (as the song goes) now I'll probably be fast asleep. 🎉😅
Whatever you're doing and whoever you're doing it with - I'll be on my own - I wish you all a Happy Hogmanay and all the best for 2026. I hope that the lurgies have all gone and all are better. Thanks for sharing 2025 with me, the highs, the lows and the everyday mundane. Lang may your lum reek.💕💕18 -
It’s a lovely crisp looking day here with a pink and blue sky.
I’m not going far - a dog walk around the local paths, and a drink and nibble at NDN late morning. Do a rehash of Christmas dinner with the other half of the gammon joint from the freezer - still plenty of 5p veg which has kept well in the cool conservatory.I will likely still be awake at midnight but maybe only just!Hope everyone enjoys their day and evening,

Morning folks. I’m popping in to wish you all well for 2026. Hope it’s as good a year as it can possibly be for everyone x13

Morning all
We had an extremely heavy frost overnight so will pop out to the shops once the car has cleared.
I bagged an humungous bargain in M&S yesterday; a stuffed and partly boned duck for £10. We will have that today as our main meal before going over to spend NYE with DD and family. I don't want to be too late back as we're out again tomorrow morning but will see how things go. I know they've bought an Escape Room for us all to do; not done one of those before.
Best wishes to all for a wonderful 2026.14 -
Good morning everyone, it's a beautiful crisp clear morning here in East Anglia, and although I live in the middle of a city when I looked out of my bedroom window first thing this morning I saw a muntjac deer crossing the road and darting between the block of flats opposite me!
Gers, thank you for bringing back a childhood memory when you mentioned Fort William. I come from a very Norfolk family, we don't travel much, all our holidays were taken a few miles down the road ( still in Norfolk!) except for when my parents had a mad moment and booked us on a Scottish holiday when I was about nine years old. We stayed in a guest house in a wonderful little place called Kinloch Rannoch, I loved it and was out exploring with the guest house owners son every day, my mother disliked the whole place and particularly hated the mountains, so my father ( for reasons best known to himself) planned a day trip out to Fort William. Off we set, and to us people from a very flat part of the UK, the mountains and hills began to loom up large around us, I was hugely excited as I had my observers book of birds with me and had already ticked off black grouse and a dipper, but my Mum had what I now think was a panic attack, she felt the landscape closing in about her and was pretty much screaming at my father to turn round and go back to the guest house. So that's what we did, returned to the guest house, we never got to Fort William, but it forever remained in my mind as somewhere far off and exotic probably surrounded by snow and full of all those Scottish birds I never got to tick off in my book!!!
Back to reality, yesterday I swapped ironing for vacuuming the whole house to give us a slightly less dusty start to the New Year. It took ages because until I have my op I creak a bit and can't lift heavy things so have to ask other family member for help, something I'm not that good at. Today I will take those final Christmas presents to my sister in law and her family. Wishing you all a Peaceful Happy New Year!

Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet, enjoy the company of your neighbour tonight.
It's very cold again this morning with a white frost but unlike yesterday doesn't look like the sun will make an appearance. It took a while to defrost the car yesterday, it hadn't been used for a few days.
The panto yesterday was brilliant, made better by the little one enjoying it so much and joining in, she was an absolute joy. I bought her a twirly light stick from The Works for £2 - better than paying the £10 they were charging at the theatre.
I'll have a walk today and get some salt for the grinder which is really all I need then cosy up by the fire later. I don't celebrate new year any more - it's far too late for me! I have, however, invited myself to friends over the road for a steak pie dinner tomorrow.
Welcome to our new posters, hope you stick around.
Hugs to all those not feeling so good today, hope the new year brings good spirits.
Take care. XX13 -
Blimey it's cold this morning, minus 1 at the moment and people were scraping icy windscreens earlier, brrr ❄️. It's lovely to see that the sun is shining though.
A day of same old same old here too, I seem to have been tidying away for days and I must tackle the spare bedroom today, I've still got some presents to find homes for.
Tea tonight will be pie and chips, I've had enough rich food so will settle for simple. I'll probably be awake to see the New Year in but I'm not sure about Mr Fix It he managed to hang on last year, but only after an evening nap. Personally I'll be glad to see the back of this year, it's been challenging to say the least. Hopefully 2026 will be better for everyone.
Take care, wishing you peace, health and happiness in 2026 for all. Enjoy your evening whatever you are doing.

Good morning
Brrrr, it's a chilly one, you wouldn't think so at this time of year 😀
Usual tidying to do, then picky bits for us tonight. Whether we'll stay up is debatable, I don't like to. It's 11 years today that my DM passed away so I just like to get today over and done with.
I will wish you all a happy and healthy new year, and thank you all for your friendship and support.13
