Just a quickie to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
It's cold here with bad weather forecast for Friday. I will be on my own tonight but following the tradition of my late husband, it will be a tasty curry followed by a couple of glasses of something special and many, many treasured memories.
I am going to make every effort to contribute to this welcoming thread more often in 2026.
Special thoughts to the lonely, poorlies or sad.
Take care x15 -
Hello all again! Just popping back to wish you all a Happy New Year with hopefully better times ahead. And hoping the world will be a more peaceful place too.
Like other lonesome ones I shall be spending the evening alone, reminiscing about happier times when life was kinder. I won't be awake for the midnight hour but will make a couple or three early toasts with Baileys. As I got 3 bottles given at Christmas I have a lot to get through!
Thanks one and all for being so kind and patient listening to those of us with worries and woes over the past year. And thanks too to TAFF for taking up the mantle of the daily Christmas songs, keeping us going all through December! Take care all whatever you are doing xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"17 -
Hi everyone,
We got to the Yorkshire house - Steve asked me what time I wanted to leave and I said I didn't mind so long as we got here in daylight - so guess what! Anyway we are here now and the house is toasty with the log burner lit.
Gers, I remember NYE 1999 mainly because Steve was working having spent the previous two years making sure that all M &S' systems survived the millennium bug. He gets cross when people say it was hyped because a lot of work went into making sure there wouldn't be any problems. Which reminds me that I am angry about a present I got Steve back in August because it was so perfect. It's a T-shirt that says "Serving up sarcasm and Tech support since 1977". 1977 was the year Steve started working for ICL. Unfortunately it is absolutely enormous and it's too late to send back.
We'll have a quiet night I think, although a couple of years ago Laura and Brian were here and said that the fireworks were incredibly loud so we might get a rude awakening at midnight.
Finally, good news to end the year, Crystal had her 12 week scan (although she is over 12 weeks now) and all is well so far.
Have a Happy New Year, see you on the other side.16 -
