Morning everyone it’s bright frosty and very cold here my youngest son and hubby have been and got a ton of logs while I was at my cleaning job I’ve got a line of towels hung out they are blowing so might dry if not they will dry quicker when they are brought in . It will be a quiet night for us we will be in bed when the clock strikes midnight but I like New Year’s Day I always feel like it’s a nice fresh start but we have had some brilliant parties over the years and always invited all the neighbours then nobody could complain about the noise I remember the last party I had I had a house to bursting and when I looked out I. The garden there was a piper on the shed roof and two policemen doing a jig on the lawn where they came from I have no idea but a good night was had by all when did I get old . Welcome to our newbies keep posting it’s lovely to hear everyone ideas and thoughts . Best wishes to everyone for a happy and healthy new year see you all tomorrow. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing15

And the last song of the year for everyone...as usual....
❄️🎀✨🎄☃️🎄✨🎀❄️
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stoup!
and surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.❄️🎀✨🎄☃️🎄✨🎀❄️
Sorry Yorkslass, bbl is be back later, but I never was, got caught in the doing stuff..Sliced the meat for the freezer, deboned some chicken my sister brought up, made a stock with that and the pork chop bones, cleaned the meat slicer [ cut myself on the blade too obviously] . It was my mothers for salami and the like so I appropriated it because I'm the only one who would use it. We had supper, and went out and that was my day really. Today I won't be doing much, I will go out for bread and butter, and to try and find some cat food they'll eat. One is a dustbin and will eat anything, the other is a fusspot. The fusspot will be under the bed later because he hates fireworks. We will be staying in, I'm not sure about OH but the thought of being in a sweaty heaving pub has lost it's glam for me. Maybe it's the lack of people I know there, if we lived where I lived before I might think about it because all my friends and aquaintances live there...Now we are all scattered about the place so it would involve taxis and all sorts and I remember well trying to book a taxi to go home after new years eve and the lack of availability...Attacking the cheese mountain with something nice to drink sounds a lot better to me

Our after Christmas meal used to be turkey curry and chips or rice or both but it was a curry no one would recognie from my Italian mother [ lots of raisins and not much spice]
Anyway, my commiserations/kudos to the unwell, the ones who have fallen, the ones who have enjoyed the company of a family of whatever sort, the ones who were not feeling it and the ones who love it, the ones who will be going out or staying in, those reading but not posting, ...Hope tomorrow is the start of something you would all like...And wrap up warm!

Morning all
Sunny here but bitterly cold 🥶 it’s -2 out there this morning, the fire will be lit shortly, we have a wash on the go and another to go in after they can both be hung out.
I have to go to my sisters today to collect the meat from her freezer we are having a second Christmas Day at hers on Friday as I was poorly for the first one, my sister has a big chest freezer so stored a big bit of pork for mum, I shall bring it here to cook tomorrow. I will also make the tiramisu tomorrow.
DD is off today so we might stay up and see the new year in, but having said that we might also have gone to bed 😂
Have fun and stay safe if you are going out.
Thanks for being my friends over the year xx
Have good days all and take care xx15 -
Morning All
Cold and frosty here as well this morning but the sun is shining.
Molly lovely to hear your memory of your holiday. We moved to EA over 2 years ago and my DH loves the fact it is flat especially when playing golf. When we lived in Kent the golf clubs were quite hilly.
TA hope DD enjoys her 70s party.
Camelot glad LO enjoyed the panto, my DGC say they are too old for the now, such a shame.
Gers glad you enjoyed your drive.
We have DD and our friends coming over tonight to see NY in but hope fully it wont be too late.
I wish everyone a happy and healthier New Year 2026 and an enjoyable evening whatever you are doing. Thank you for all the conversations in 2025. It is always lovely to hear what everyone is doing.
Sending hugs to all who want/need them.

Morning all, thanks @Scarlet for starting us off on the last day of 2025. It's a good job the gritters were up and down our road last night as we've woken to a very heavy frost this morning. It's freezing out but the sky is a bright blue, there are no clouds to be seen, it's calm and should stay dry.
Now it's warmed up a bit I'll be going out for milk and a few other bits and then raiding the freezer for the makings of tomorrow's dinner that will be more or less a repeat of Xmas Day but with gammon instead of chicken. I'll be seeing in the NY by myself but will raise a glass to my late DH - he'd be disappointed if I didn't!
@Gers - Ah, a Mary Hopkins song! Like you (and others), my days of heralding in NY are much quieter these days. It makes you wonder where all the years have gone.
@camelot - Glad LO (and you) enjoyed the panto.
@nanny - I have mixed feelings about this year, it's certainly had its challenges but I've survived!
@remmie - Hugs for today, loved ones are often in our thoughts no matter how long it is since they left us.
@-taff - Of course it is! Doh, sometimes my little brain cells go to sleep.
Thanks for the last song of the year.
Just had a text from DS to say he and DP have landed safely at Heathrow but they won't be back in Yorkshire until late Friday as they're doing a detour to visit DP's brother (just outside London) and then staying with DP's parents (Milton Keynes) for NY. I hope they've got warm clothing, it's going to feel mighty cold to them after 3 weeks in Brazil.
Thanks for the support and conversations this year, I'm wishing everyone a 2026 that brings joy and contentment, strength when times are tough and good health. XXBe kind to others and to yourself too.13 -
Hi everyone xx
I am feeling quite fragile after losing the last two days to a UTI, migraine and general fatigue. We have BFF and her DH coming to us later and have tickets for our local pub, so I need to pull myself together to host. Have sent DH for some fresh bread and vegetables as we are having roast lamb tomorrow.Lovely to have some new posters as we see the year out.Thank you to all who post here. The support and friendliness is amazing. I do appreciate you all xx
Happy New Year everyone 🍾
