  • £1k to get a clutch replaced that's a bit excessive I think - did you price around??

I got a clutch replaced in a Ford Galaxy few years back and only cost around £400 all in.

Clutch kits are in and around £200 and I don't think labour would be £800.

Get another couple of prices first and see.

Look what I have learnt over last few years as car is a car whether its a £1k car or £50k car they all do the same job and easy to run, keep and maintain the better for our pockets.

Get prices then weigh up options first

I am getting a few prices. My cousin was guessing and is getting some quotes for me so it might be wrong. He deals with a lot of cars in his trade. Mine is a mini cooper S and as much as it is a lovely drive, everything that goes wrong seems to cost! The guess was about £400 for the clutch itself and then they have to pull allsorts out to get to it.. a headlight cost me £50 not so long ago! Unfortunately the parts just cost a fortune on it!

Have a look in eurocarparts as you can input your registration and it will bring you clutch kits for your car type.

  • I recently had a clutch replaced and was relieved when it came in just under £1300, I’d been quoted up to £1500.  It’s not the replacement so much as the labour.

Hide under the duvet and pretend its not happening?!😂

I don't know. I think its time to say goodbye to my mini, its served me well, but I have been slowly losing faith in it for longer journeys.
And spending more last time meant car has lasted me so much longer than others (no guarantee i know). I am just trying to sort myself out though... i didn't really want to borrow more!
Under the duvet works for me most days too 😂😂😂
would you get a low interest loan? It’s an awful dilemma for you 😢

I think I would need to get a low interest loan. Currently still weighing up options. Luckily (or unluckily for him) my brother is going in for an op on Wednesday and won’t be able to drive for a couple of weeks so is letting me borrow his car while I contemplate. 🤔

  • Can you sorn your car while using your brother’s and use any savings towards the necessary repairs?
