Hello please do judge me, I have been very ill the last 3 months and am struggling. I have severe heart and lung problems. Anyway I have fallen behind with my bill. Handset and airtime. I’m worried now that they will cut the handset off I need the handset working due to ill health. I’m not fussed abut the SIM card just the phone. Obviously I want to pay but can’t right now.. will they cut the device off,?? Thanks guys

The will usually disconnect the SIM after missing the second payment and handsets get blocked in a similar timeframe, they get blocked via IMEI number so may still work in a limited fashion via WiFi but depending on the handset they can get the manufacturer to block them entirely.

It might be worth getting this moved to the DFW section and posting an SOA.

Do you have any other debts? If you do, it may be better to default on a different one to allow you to pay the mobile bill.

The mobile network usually block the sim card, never known them to block the actual phone, unless someone else knows differently?

    Might depend on handset type/model.

Just get a PAYG sim card and use that, I assume the phone is unlocked? if not get one on the same network.

Push comes to shove you can buy reliable cheap basic mobiles from as little as £10 plus a sim card.

They can block the phone, they do it via IMEI, it happened to my sister when she stopped paying her bill, the sim got restricted first, then the phone became wifi only after 4 months I believe.

Agree with your point on the cheap phone though, there are some pretty cheap ones out there if you just need something to make calls.

Sorry to hear about your health issues, I hope they improve soon! Have you called o2? Probably the best first port of call is to call and let them know whats going on.
