UKPC and DCB Legal court claim
I have just received the LoC for the overstay on McDonalds parking. Fortunately/unfortunately all previous correspondence from UKPC/ debt collectors (?)/other solicitors companies were ignored.
Now i have received the LoC from dcblegals - this seems to be the standard template with keeper details and given reason for asking to pay. I will response to that requesting additional 30 days and in the meantime i will ask for further details.
Below is the template of the email i intend to send to response@dcblegal.co.uk.:
"Subject: Request for 30-Day Hold – Pre-Action Protocol for Debt ClaimsDear Sirs,I write in response to your Letter of Claim regarding the above-referenced parking matter.Pursuant to the Pre-Action Protocol for Debt Claims, I confirm that I am seeking advice and therefore formally request that the matter be placed on hold for a period of not less than 30 days from the date of this correspondence. This request is made in accordance with paragraph 5.2 of the Protocol, which requires creditors to allow a reasonable period for a prospective defendant to obtain advice and consider their position before proceedings are commenced.During the hold period, I may submit a separate request for information and documents pursuant to the Pre-Action Protocol, in order to properly understand my position.During this time, I will be reviewing the information provided and assessing the matter fully. No admission of liability is made, and all rights are expressly reserved. Please confirm in writing that the matter has been placed on hold and that no court proceedings will be issued during this period.Yours faithfully,[Your Full Name]Registered Keeper"
Any comments re above email and further course of action are appreciated.
Thank you

Just email the LoC response template in the 2nd post in the newbies sticky thread in announcements, no changes, no additions2

You really don’t need an additional 30 days. That only delays the eventual discontinuance. Get on with it soonest, then you can star in this thread once we see your Notice of Discontinuance (N279).Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Many thanks for prompt response,
Will do as advised.
As This is my first randez vouz of this sort i want to have more time to get everything right hence the request. Will attach any correspondence from dcb.

We don't need to see any correspondence from DCB Ltd at all, nor from DCB Legal unless it is the Notice of Discontinuance2

Good afternoon,
My request for the additional time has been ignored and i have received claim form with issue date 8 jan 2026 for £170 plus interests plus £35 court fee plus £50 legal representative's costs.
I take i have 14 days, 5 days after the issue date so up to 27th January to respond.
To confirm:
A ) I tick 1. I intend to defend all of this claim and send back the acknowledgment.
B ) I have up to 28 days starting as of today (5 days after issue date) to send the defense.
Should I be doing anything else at this stage? Please correct the date if i understood them wrongly.
Thank you

Template defence thread.
The claim will end up discontinued before the hearing, later this year.Just play the game: follow the easy 8 steps covered in the Template Defence sticky thread. No link is needed to the NEWBIES FAQS thread - which you must also read post 2 of, especially the red heading IMPORTANT: KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN' - nor will we provide a link to the Template Defence Announcement thread.
See my signature below if you need a reminder how to hop straight to page one & read/bookmark the Template Defence thread to follow the 8 steps.
We do not want to know about DCB Legal's reply, or the DQ, or Mediation (all are covered).
What we do collect are pictures of the Notices of Discontinuance for Umkomaas' thread, so we'll see you again in the Summer/Autumn when you strut proudly back here with your win!

You have redacted the date of issue - any particular reason? If you show us the date, we can give you some deadlines and intermediate dates.4

Hello,
No particular reason - was covering any potential identity trails (Read on the forum that parking companies may also read the information on this forum). The issue date is 8th January 2026. I believe you have already provided me with the dates as per your last reply but please let me know if anything changes.

Quick question, re signs on the parking lot: 4 out of 6 UKPC signs are behind the property fence, one inside the property boundaries is hanged just above the ground and usually covered by parked cars and only the entrance one seems to be placed according to BPA rules.
Would you advise to add this into the defence?
Thank you for the directions0
