I bought smaller extra fine pure Merino vests, some of mine are mine are UK size XL. hand having been so ill I bought smaller ones. £14 each seemed reasonable. Perhaps emergency coupons? TKM

Definitely emergency coupons, @Nelliegrace . I’m really glad you’re getting better and stronger.
I’ve had a quick wander around the shops, here in Melbourne. Summer fashion here is best described as early 1980’s. Lots of emphasis on shoulders - puffed sleeves and the like, but not big shoulder pads (yet).

Autumn and winter styles here seem to feature dropped shoulders which is why I’ve had so much trouble finding a winter coat. I’ve got narrow shoulders and a dropped shoulder coat makes me look like I’m wearing a dressing gown. I have now found a tweed field coat which ticks all my boxes - fits, 100% wool warm, waterproof, windproof and the right colour ( a sort of slate blue which looks equally good with navy and black) so I hope never to have to shop for a coat again. And it was made in England!
I still have the 1980s coat which I was going to remake. I have worked out how to get it to look ok but there is no urgency. I might do it anyway as a project but I have other projects that take priority. Like making a hay box ( thermal cooking bag) to use during air raids (likely power cuts this winter)
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!8 -
Eight coupons spent today, on a jumper - and I'm afraid it's not even a natural fabric, though in its defence, it goes very well with some trousers that need a light weight companion.
All the other coupons spent so far this year are for socks. Some for me and some as gifts. I'm afraid I've lost track of how many, but at least 12.
It's a very good job second hand doesn't count (unless highly priced), as I've bought a fair few things, especially from V1nted.
