Oh, I do hope it tours, that’s too far away for me.I went to Abe Books for something I’ve been meaning to buy for ages, They just happened to have the third volume of Simon Garfield’s books (about the post war period) and a copy of ‘A Notable Lady’. Well, it would’ve been rude not to, wouldn’t it?Good thing books are not rationed, although I know they were limited in how many they could print. I always buy secondhand though, and pass them on afterwards.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.8

I’m reading that one at the moment (3rd Simon Garfield), and find it much harder going than the other two. There’s noticeable antisemitism and some homophobia, ironically the latter is from a decidedly gay gentleman (who wants to find a medical cause).PollyWollyDoodle said:Oh, I do hope it tours, that’s too far away for me.I went to Abe Books for something I’ve been meaning to buy for ages, They just happened to have the third volume of Simon Garfield’s books (about the post war period) and a copy of ‘A Notable Lady’. If anyone is nearby, this looks really interesting. I'm going on Friday to see it.
That would be the nearest for us up north north.(we're more north than Manchester/ Leeds which is what the msm call north!)2026 Fashion on the ration
Anorak = 11 coupons... total 11 used/66
Light anorak = 9 coupons...total used 20/666 -
Remembered in the shower this morning that I had bought myself a changing robe for swimming in the sale and haven't declared the coupons. It's somewhere between a coat and a bathrobe so I'm thinking as per a lined raincoat? 15 coupons? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Hoping it will help me get into the sea a bit more - we live 5 mins walk from the seafront.Fashion on the Ration 2026 - 38/66 coupons used

@cowboymum - I swim in a local quarry twice a week so we can keep each other virtual company in our swimming!
Think of it as contributing to the War Effort- it should help keep us free of coughs and colds if we swim regularly!

Thanks for the link @Floss. If I can wait that long, A Longest Yarn II will be in Windsor in early 2027. That’s the closest it’ll get to me.cowboymum said:Remembered in the shower this morning that I had bought myself a changing robe for swimming in the sale and haven't declared the coupons. A dressing gown or bath robe is 8 coupons if woollen, 7 if not. @cowboymum, don’t shortchange yourself.

@Laura_Elsewhere oh yes I could do with a bit of immune boosting! Just got to get up the courage to get back in the sea (might leave it for a few months though cos it's looks pretty cool and choppy out there at the moment!).Fashion on the Ration 2026 - 38/66 coupons used

You’re all Northerners to me and @Kiwisavings.

(I don’t think anyone else here was born south of the equator, just the two of us.)
I road-tested the M&S body yesterday. Warm. Gave a very flattering line, too. My only quibble is that it has the toughest press-studs I’ve encountered in a long time. Once done up, they are hard to undo, which guarantees that around them will be where the fabric wears out first.
I am tempted to buy two more…. Definitely would if they came in another colour. (They only come in black.)
