More ultrasound prodding and poking today, in a city location I wasn't familiar with, so I took the train into the city (free) and got a taxi to the clinic (£6.80 well spent, I'd never have found it). Then hopped on a bus back into the city to catch the train home (both free with pensioners pass).

Travel on our local network after 9.30a.m. is free for residents over 60. Those trying to travel before the permitted start time are nicknamed "twirlies" (too earlies). The network is fab, with network trains every 15 minutes, and buses either every 15 or 30 minutes. The last train from the city to where I live leaves after 11pm.

11/20 today please Cathybird. I think you may live in the same area as me satchmoi - it's such a good benefit and you can travel to many places on the train within the permitted area. Great for days out.

I’m managing to mostly avoid alcohol at the moment, but will find my visit to France (cheap wine!) quite a challenge in September!

September may be a stretch to get to 28, but I'm going to give it a good go. It's our wedding anniversary towards the end of the month, and we are planning to fly to Jersey for a short break, spanning the end of September/start of October.
