When my (police officer) ex-husband and I divorced in 1998, I was awarded a pension sharing order which comes in fluition in a little over 2 years time. Would this have been index-linked or worth the same as when it was awarded?

Short answer, yes.
Unless there were some unusual or specific terms that were agreed at the time, a standard PSO would follow the terms of the pension being shared, at the point at which it becomes payable and going forward.0 -
If it was a Pension Sharing Order, the pension will have increased in value since it was awarded - you will have become something known as a 'pension credit member' which means you'll be treated as having a pension in the scheme 'in your own right'. This will be similar to a 'normal' deferred pension scheme member, but with a few exceptions. If you have a look at the paperwork you will have received from the scheme, it will explain what these are.suemacd22 said:When my (police officer) ex-husband and I divorced in 1998, I was awarded a pension sharing order which comes in fluition in a little over 2 years time. But if you divorced in 1998 (?could your date be a typo), are you sure it's not an Earmarking Order? PSOs only came into effect for divorce proceedings filed on or after December 1, 2000.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0
