Morning all.
Sorry to dissappear so quickly yesterday. OH needed help to bleed the brakes on the camper.
@PipneyJane, thanks for the info. Tesco was one of the places I looked for kidney beans last year. They had none, even got one of the assistants to look on his phone for me. Maybe it's because we're in Wales. Plenty of leeks, though.
@mumof3.12kindebt. How lovely to "see" you again. How are you and yours? I still wave when we drive north.
Still no spends, other than milk and direct debits. Will have to go shopping soon. We are out of eggs, it being winter our girls aren't laying yet; only one more loaf in the freezer and very short of fruit. OH is at the dentist on 20th. I wonder if we can manage until then?
Made another £5 Tesco voucher on games site. Will add that into my signature.
Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2026.

I have tried the Lidl cheese but was not impressed, might have just been that block, usually get Aldi cheese, mature chedder. I bought a range for a Christmas cheese board but the dog's cheese tax came of the cheap block (I know - animal abuse). I am trying to avoid all ultra processed food this year so will need a couple of months to average my food bill out. Cook from scratch most of the time but was getting to many GF foods and treats that are i) expensive ii) full of chemicals.10

@mumtoomany if you're going anywhere near a branch of Wing Yip on your journey north, I strongly recommend popping in. (They have branches in Birmingham and Manchester, as well as two in Greater London.) Wing Yip are a Chinese cash-and-carry, who are open to the general public and usually have quite a selection of dried beans, pulses, and large bags of spices, as well as noodles, flour, etc. I've bought dried kidney beans from there in the past.
I am seriously thinking of making a trip to our nearest branch - 15 miles away - in order to get a 500g bag of ground cinnamon, dried black-eyed beans and some more kidney beans. We'll probably need some more of their washing up liquid at some point too(sold in the 4L bottle, it's excellent value). Hopefully, they'll have tins of pilchards...

Thanks, @PipneyJane. I'll look out for that next time we go up there. Ah, pilchards another thing I can't find anywhere, nor sardines (which i believe are the same fish). Why is there suddenly such a shortage?
Just paid OH's self assessment tax. It has taken nearly 20 minutes and two phone calls to the bank. Amount, £6.60. Shouldn't be so difficult for so little. This won't be included in the £8000, as it's a business expense.
Have just bought DGD3 a birthday present. £11.76. No postage and delivered straight to her mum. Will add that in.
Speak soon, hugs, mumtoomany.xxFrugal Living Challenge 2026.

@mumtoomany ....May I ask what sites you use for the Tesco vouchers please? I am looking for things that I can do at home to either earn cash or gift cards to use for groceries etc. My husband isn't very well at the moment so doing something will help take my mind off things as I am really worried about him (he's struggling with extreme fatigue and side effects from the Targeted Therapy cancer medication and in bed most of the day).
Is there anything else that anyone can think of that I can do?
Many thanks,
Thorny12311 -
Hi, @Thorny123. I use rewarded play for the Tesco vouchers. They do other vouchers too. Points for playing/running a game for 2 minutes each day. Many more points for completing certain levels. You can answer surveys too, though I don't qualify for many. Let me know if you want to know more.
