I called HMRC on 23 December at 07:58. Had to listen to the automated gumpf. Always answer "miscellaneous" as to the reason for your call to bypass all the labyrinthine menu system. I was talking to an advisor at 5 past 8 who sorted out my issue in ten minutes (removal of work benefits (car and medical) from my tax code since I have just retired).3

Shame you got an advisor who didn't, based on what you have posted, know what to do 😳MetaPhysical said:I called HMRC on 23 December at 07:58. Had to listen to the automated gumpf. I will try miscellaneous as what I said resulted in an automated answer abd cut me off. Called again, but too late for the magic time of 8am and gave up after a long wait. They say it's their busy time of the year, yet where are most of the staff after Christmas. Still on holiday. I had a job and had to work between Christmas and new year, why don't they if it's their busy time. Rant over.MetaPhysical said:I called HMRC on 23 December at 07:58. I don't know if it is still the case, but as well as the 3 Bank Holiday days over the period, HMRC staff also got a "Privilege" day, so had 4 days off.littlemoney said:

I don't follow you? They removed the car and medical BIK and reverted my tax code to what it now should be, so they did exactly what I asked them to. I could not do this on my online tax account.Dazed_and_C0nfused said:

Since you have “just retired”. did you not have the car and medical benefit from April until the date you retired?MetaPhysical said:

Not the case, as such, any longer. The Christmas Priv Day has now been removed from entitlement (as has the Maundy Thursday half day). For staff in post when this change occurred, they got the 1.5 days added onto their A/L entitlement, to be taken at any time during the year. For staff not in post then, they didn't get the extra balance on their A/L entitlement.lincroft1710 said:
