E: 03/01 Win a Webb winter tools bundle worth more than over £260

https://www.thesun.co.uk/competitions/37678213/win-webb-winter-tools-bundle/

Winter may feel like a time to hibernate, but while the garden is dormant, it’s actually the perfect moment to tidy up and prepare for spring.

Award-winning garden designer and blogger for British garden machinery brand Webb, Adam Woolcott, shares his top tips for easier winter maintenance.

Clear fallen leaves

Fallen leaves can block gutters, smother lawns, rot plants and provide hiding places for pests.

Instead of spending hours raking, a garden blower can make light work of
the task.

Tools like the Webb Eco Cordless Axial Blower help gather leaves quickly and efficiently.

Once cleared, leaves, branches and other debris will need moving.

Carrying heavy bags across the garden in cold or muddy conditions can be tiring, so having a sturdy wheelbarrow – like the Webb 90-Litre model – can help make life a lot easier and save your back.

PRUNING

Winter is also the perfect time to prune trees, shrubs and hedges while plants are still dormant.

Start by checking for dead or hanging branches that could pose a
safety risk.

Smaller branches can be tackled with secateurs, but for tougher cuts, a lightweight pruning saw such as the Webb Eco Cordless Mini Chainsaw with its 15cm blade and adjustable pole makes pruning easier without ladders.

When it comes to pruning, remember to follow the basics: remove dead or diseased wood first, then thin out crowded branches to improve airflow.

Always cut at an angle just above a healthy bud to encourage strong new growth.

And don’t be afraid to step back and check your work – it’s easy to get carried away!

Finally, stack cut branches in a corner to create a bug friendly shelter.

One lucky winner will receive a winter gardening tool package, including a Webb Eco Cordless Pruning Saw, a 20V 100mph Cordless Axial Blower,
and the  90-litre garden wheelbarrow.
