Serps tracing

When I worked at Texas homecare in the 80’s we opted out / serps I believe to home charm pension scheme. We were then bought out by Homebase which was part of ladbrokes then I believe the Hilton group took over the pensions. Has anyone had any luck in tracing their pension from this home charm company ? HMRC say it’s archived and to write to the Hilton which I’ve done who say they have nothing. I don’t know where to go from here

Could you try and remember some dates, please - especially the dates when you started/finished working there, and how old you were at the time you joined Texas Homecare?Mrtinkerman said:When I worked at Texas homecare in the 80’s we opted out / serps I believe to home charm pension scheme. It's possible you weren't there long enough to build up an entitlement to a 'deferred' pension - hence my question.
Also worth having a look at this post https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6267734/is-there-a-really-detailed-online-method-to-check-nics/p1 and following the suggestion made in my post of 15 May 2021.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1 -
There is a group on Faceache and they reckon it will be with Ladbrokes via Hymans Robertson LLP, https://www.hymans.co.uk/

1980s dates are crucial - if you left before 1 April with less than 5 years pensionable service then you may have been offered a refund of your contributions. Does that ring any bells?
If you left after 1 April, when the vesting period was likely to have been reduced to 2 years, then you should have a deferred occupational pension rather than SERPS.1 -
Google has failed me but I have a feeling the change from 5 years to 2 years was in 1985.Silvertabby said:1980s dates are crucial - if you left before 1 April with less than 5 years pensionable service then you may have been offered a refund of your contributions. Does that ring any bells?

No. The change came in for leavers on or after 6.4.88.DRS1 said:

Might be better not to post so much based on googling and guesswork...Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
But at least it prompted you to post the correction!Marcon said:
