Not sure this poll is going to be any help to you. Given that so much depends on individual circumstances, what use will the findings be? They'll either depress you needlessly, or give you false hope - neither of which will help you get that elusive next job.
I very much hope you succeed soon and that the New Year kicks off on a much brighter and more positive note for you.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!5 -

It's awful out there. Mate of mine has just gone 8 months and got a 3 month contract which has little chance of renewal.
If you can find something perm, take it and ride it out.1 -

That implies you've never been made redundant. And I say bully for you - redundancy is rarely about being the worst person in a team.Brie said:you've missed out "I don't quit/leave before I've got a new job lined up"
395 of us so far at my old place have been made redundant. All because they want to restructure the business.
None of us were warned. We were taken into a room and told we had a month to find something and then be let go. Of course, there were only 42 job reqs. And they were all really specialist.
Also, as has been pointed out, contractors, agency staff and others are often in short-term contracts.0 -
You can still measure the window from when you start looking to when you have secured a new role.Brie said:you've missed out "I don't quit/leave before I've got a new job lined up"
What's the window you are looking at? The day you first look on the job boards to the day you have an offer? The day you end your old job and day to start your new job?IsaacAY_0510 said:

I'd say it's typically 4-6 weeks when looking meaningfully but there are dead zones so if you have to start looking early December it's likely to be materially longer.0 -
and the number of people who won't / don't 'lower themselves' to agency work or 'flipping burgers' ...born_again said:How long is a bit of string...

Finding A job may not necessarily be a problem, whether it's a job that pays you what you need to earn, utilises your skills and experience, or doing something you want to do... Is a different question.born_again said:How long is a bit of string...
Especially given todays rise in unemployment.
In general it's often easier to find a new job, when you already have a job.

As a contractor in principle it's easier to find a new gig having immediately finished a role. 95% of time people want someone yesterday which is why they are going to the contract market and any notice period can be a negative, particularly anything over 2 weeks1
