Making a McCloud Remedy choice with Capita
Hello
I am a Civil Service pensioner with a McCloud Remedy Immediate Choice Remediable Service Statement (RSS) from MyCSP that I can’t do anything about now that pensions administration has passed to Capita.
I was unable to read or understand the RSS until recently because of health scares (and I still have an eyesight problem under investigation with the hospital). But I had until 24 March 2026 and there was the MyCSP online portal, so not a big problem. Until I accessed the MyCSP portal and read about the transfer to Capita. Combined with the MyCSP strikes, I decided to wait until after the transfer, to avoid anything getting lost in the handover.
Now I can find nothing on the Capita website about how to make a choice, either online or in writing, and lots on the internet about problems with Capita. Now 24 March does not seem so far away.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Any thoughts about what to do, apart from wait with crossed fingers?
Thanks

You may be best ringing them, it'll mean a long hang on the phone, but in your situation I'd keep going until they pick the phone up...at least you'll then have a shot at getting through to someone who may understand where you're up to.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

I hope you have resolved this problem. I was shocked when I tried to log into the My CSP portal last week to register my choice as I had no idea Capita were taking over! I had to re-register on the new portal, which I did, but then couldnt actually get into it no matter what I tried. I found the address for Capita but didn't want to post my choice in case it went astray, I would have no proof I'd sent it. So, despite the horror stories of long waits, I rang them and got through after 1 hour and 23 minutes! The man I spoke to was very helpful and said my account should be unlocked by the end of today but I'm still waiting . .....2

Once you have set up your account it is apparently best to wait till the next day to access it, or so colleagues tell me. I’ve no pressing need to do it yet, so leaving well alone so that people who need to get money have a better chance.1

I still have this under enquiry with my former union and the Cabinet Office, but no solution yet. Like you, I am concerned about posting my paper election into the void. Unfortunately, because I have actually received my RSS, the union don’t quite understand my problem.
In case I don’t get anything conclusive sorted before my time limit runs out, I am evolving a desperate process to make a reasonable effort to get my election to the right people:
1. Send the paper election by (Royal Mail special Delivery?) to the Capita Darlington address. Keep a copy
2. Make an electronic election on the Capita message/ complaints facility, along the lines of:
In reply to my RSS dated XXXXX I I elect to (whatever) signed under section 7 Electronic Communications Act 2000 (and type out your name).
Keep a screen shot of what is written and of any acknowledgement
3. The pension scheme manager is within the Cabinet Office (I thought they were part of Capita) so send a message FAO the scheme manager via Contact the Cabinet Office along the lines of:
In reply to my my RSS dated XXXXX I have today returned my election to [Capita, Darlington]. In the event that goes astray, and in the absence of a dedicated electronic portal to make an election, I wish this to be treated as my election to (whatever) signed under section 7 Electronic Communications Act 2000 (and type out your name).
Upload an image of the paper election. Make a screen shot of what you have written, and of the acknowledgement.
Any thoughts?

It's all very frustrating. I have sent my McCloud choice to MYCSP earlier last year but have no idea when this will be actionned. I tried ringing Capita last Friday afternoon but remained in 5th place in the queue for over an hour and gave up.
Surely it would not take much effort form Capita - or the cabinet office or somewhere in the Civil Service, if there is a responsible person for pensions anywhere [?] to state the current situation: i.e. how many are in the queue to sort their initial pensions out, how many people are affected by the McCloud remedy fix, and some sort of timetable with a triage service capable of prioritising those most in need.
There is no point in looking who to blame, as thats like nailing jelly to the ceiling here, but a little communication would help.
Has anyone had their McCloud remedy resolved yet? Hope to keep this thread going with more information from colleagues [many retired from my era [1996 to 2022] had no idea about McCloud when I contacted them!

I would send it, and keep copies of what you send, as many ways as you can and as many tracked ways as you can.
