State pension tax

in Cutting tax
My wife's only income is her state pension however she has she has given me the marriage allowance.
I do pay tax on additional pensions, last year my wife received a bill from the tax office for a simple assessment request for £132.60 which I have paid.
If the simple assessment is applied this year with the increases in pension the bill would be £357.03.
In the budget Rachel Reeves said she would not be collecting tax on those with state pension only. Does that apply in this case Or will we have to pay the simple assessment again?

No one knows the exact rules yet but she must have more than the basic State Pension or standard new State Pension.retiredoldgeezer said:My wife's only income is her state pension however she has she has given me the marriage allowance.

In which case the new rules, as currently understood, wouldn't apply.
Might it make easier to simply cancel Marriage Allowance now, to take effect from 6 April 2026?1 -
No change until things are formally announced, and even then, no change before the 2027 tax year (starting April 2027).retiredoldgeezer said:My wife's only income is her state pension however she has she has given me the marriage allowance.
