The likely scenario here, is the debt will have been sold on, long after all records of a CCJ were removed, so as you suspect, they may not be aware of it.

its Link financial, she been suffering with health problems & actually paid them £10 & made a F&F offer some years ago which they rejected so she just ignored them after. She made a request for credit agreement at the same time which they ignored.sourcrates said:The likely scenario here, is the debt will have been sold on, long after all records of a CCJ were removed, so as you suspect, they may not be aware of it.

OK, see how they respond, if at all, there are a number of options with this.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. She has now received letter stating that as she paid between 2006 & 2024 she owes the balance. They still don't seem to know there was a court order years ago but admit they do not have a credit agreement from the original lender.
Any ideas how she should proceed with this one?
Thank you

Whe did she last make a payment? And before then, was there a very large gap of non payment?

I would call their bluff, go down the route of telling them you`re not paying as the debt is currently unenforceable due to not been able to provide a copy of the credit agreement, and see if they then mention the CCJ.
If they do, you`ll likely have to come up with another plan, if they don`t, then happy days.
