  • Mollygirl, yes he could wait, but how much more is he likely to get every month verses not having that money every month, like if he waits 5 years, will that time frame likely payout more than the fives years worth of payments he's already potentially able to take ?
They have given him the option of figures to take a
    set 25% tax free amount
An amount with choosing a lower tax free amount for a higher monthly payment of taking no tax free amount at all.

Have both you and your husband checked your state pension forecasts?

    https://www.gov.uk/check-state-pension

He has a deferred Defined Benefit Pension.

He is now 60 but the NRD of the scheme is 65.

When the scheme became deferred, was he given a statement of deferred  benefits and if so, what does it show?

Is the pension reduced if paid before NRD and if so, by how much?

Was he still an active member of the scheme  between May 17 1990 and April 5, 1997?

What are the figures shown on the three options?
  • I'm not sure about any of the above, his pension provider is being less than helpful with figures etc, they take weeks to answer any of his phone calls to provide details and promises of replies to emails in 10 days dont get answered he has to keep chasing, he was given some figures when he contacted them earlier in the year, he asked them recently for an now updated figure as he's now retired, they said he will only get a statement once a year, that was it !
  • Yes he's entitled to the full state pension, I have just claimed credits off my daughter to fill some gaps In mine but I'm still short by 11 weeks in one year, but the amount to fill that year is low so I can fill that which will give me the full state pension I'm just £4.47 a week short.
