HMRC have given me the wrong tax code, I can't change it on my app
Online chat agents were rude and cut me off chat. I don't know why it's wrong or the best way to correct it

Your on line tax account will show how the code was arrived at. What have they changed it from / to ? Why do you think it is "wrong" ?0

I only have the app, I don't earn so don't have any online tax accounts or self assessment etc.
I cashed a small pension in, in full, I took the 25% tax free lump sum, and I was taxed emergency tax on the rest, I filled in the P50z form in November 2024 and I only got the refund last week, yes 12 months, the letter had the pension and some bank savings interest on it (which I'm going to check) but they changed my tax code to 808n, it states an income from my pension of £3230 but tax £0, it looks to me that they think I'm having an annual income from my pension but I'm not, as I had to fill in on the form no further income, the pension was small and I cashed it in full, there is no further income. My husband has my marriage allowance so I believe my tax code should be 12570 less 1260 and leave me 11310 so my tax code should read 1131n ?0 -

How much do you expect your next P60 in April 2026 will show your taxable income to be from whichever employer or pension company is using this tax code?0 -
I'm not employed, I have no further pension income, I have no taxable income at all0

Why on earth do you care what a tax code no one is using is then 🤔moving1moretime said:I'm not employed, I have no further pension income, I have no taxable income at all0 -
Because my severe anxiety is causing me to worry over it, and with the greatest respect, unless you suffer you won't understand, and the fact that it took 12 months to get a refund of emergency tax in excess of £4000! It Is not something I might potentially want to have to deal with again, I just want it corrected, everything I read states it's my responsibility to make sure my tax code is correct, it isn't0

What source will the code number be used against if you have no income sources?moving1moretime said:I'm not employed, I have no further pension income, I have no taxable income at all0 -
Who is/was responsible for this tax code, was it the pension company can I ask them to correct it, or is it the tax office...please don't say it doesn't matter, it does matter to me, I have OCD with things like this and I Need it to be right for my mental health, if you understand you understand if you don't then you don't...😞0

I will at some point claim my state pension and I have a number of savings accounts, but it's not the point, I'm sorry I can't put it across how it's affecting me, but I just want my code correctedsheramber said:
