If you've got an iPhone, just put an Airtag on his school bag/uniform.Only needs someone with an iPhone to be nearby, which is almost inevitable, and you'll be able to see where he is.

There are a few trackers that now work with both Apple's Find My and Google's Find My Device concurrently.victor2 said:If you've got an iPhone, just put an Airtag on his school bag/uniform.Only needs someone with an iPhone to be nearby, which is almost inevitable, and you'll be able to see where he is.
Airtag isn't one of them (natch).1 -

Airtag isn't one of them (natch). There are much cheaper "Airtag" type devices that work with iOS. Sadly, Android linked devices require users to opt-in to device finding, where Apple is on by default and requires users to opt out, so just about any iPhone from 11 on will report a nearby Airtag. I have one in my luggage and I don't even have an iPhone, but set it up through DD's iPhone. When touring around Europe by bus and train, she could regularly see where I was.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. My wife suffers from alzheimer's and I have been looking for some sort of tracking device - Mobiles are out of the question - and not really had much success - I have found the blurb is very much a sales pitch and does not really answer the question. We take care not to let her out on her own - but there is always the danger of getting seperated. I will be intested in how you go on.My grandkids were given walkie talkies long before they got mobiles but there is an obvious restrictions on range.1

Airtag type devices are fine so long as they are going to be in Bluetooth range (around 30 feet) of an iPhone (just about any iPhone). So, great in a populated area, but not so good in a quiet more remote place...
