I gave fresh eggs from our hens to the delivery drivers who were our lifeline, and still do when we have some spare.
Packs of boiled sweets for the wheeliebin men at Christmas. Our are good, but they are far better paid than I was. Our collection day is Monday, so they get Bank Holiday rate.Fashion on the Ration 2026. Coupons used, 6 pairs of socks non-wool 6, 4 cotton vests 12, sleeveless wool cardigan 5, 2 pairs of summer weight cotton pyjamas 16. Total 39.
Grocery Challenge 2026, £5 a day for food for 2 pensioners. Total £1,825.

I don't give cash as the bin men often arrive before I'm up, but always bake some biscotti, lebkuchen or mince pies and dash out with a big bag in my pjs, gives them a laugh if nothing else. Always well received, likewise, if I see postie, he will get the same.1
