in Cutting tax
My 2025/2026 tax code has been updated today. I have just checked on my online tax account and my December payment has already been posted. Therefore the first month that the new tax code will be used is January 2026.
My question is will the January tax deduction correct the cumulative tax deduction as if the new tax code had been applied from April 2025?
My code has been changed from 253M to 294M.

Probably yes. As the code is an increase it will likely have been issued on a cumulative basis, the only time that shouldn't happen is if an earlier code was lower and a cumulative code would result in excessive tax being deducted if 294M was used on a cumulative basis.RG2015 said:My 2025/2026 tax code has been updated today. Does your Personal Tax Account make any reference to week1/month1 basis or show an X after the code?1 -
HMRC have advised me that my new tax code is 294M. There are no other code references.Dazed_and_C0nfused said:
