Tax on state pension

Hi I am new to the Forum and would like to ask for some advice. My wife and I are both on the state pension. I also have a private pension but my wife only has the state pension. A couple of years ago I was advised to claim 10% of my wife's Income Tax allowance this was fine till this year when my wife received a tax bill because her reduced tax allowance did not cover her state pension earnings, After the chancellors discussion with Martin when she stated people with only a state pension would not pay tax I wonder should I reverse my decision to claim a percentage of her tax allowance. Any advice would be much appreciated

The changes will not come in until the 27-28 tax year and the details as yet have not been sorted out between what was stated and what will actually happen. As long as her tax bill was less than you saved then you are up on the deal as a couple. The question now is will her tax bill for 26-27 be less than what you will save ?1
