Postage Cost

Postage costs, the real reason……
The reason for over pricing of postage is due to big business, eBay, Amazon using Royal Mail as their own courier service. It’s the reason eBay can now afford to let you SELL FOR FREE…. No chance, they would disappear !! They can allow you to sell for free as they have signed up to Royal Mail and other courier firms to deliver X amount of items through the eBay selling portal ! So they have told couriers etc… we can guarantee 20-30 million items a year will be sent through the selling platform. Due to such high quantities of items being sent Royal Mail and others will offer large discounts for businesses who send these types of numbers. So they might be getting items which we pay £3-£4, £5 to send for less than a £1 due to high volumes they send. Amazon do the same but via a subscription so you pay X amount and you might only ever use them to purchase things once or twice a year, or as a customer you might pay £4.95 - £6.95 for one item to be delivered….. it’s mostly Royal Mail and it’s massive distribution centres and sorting offices along with a fleet of their vehicles which move most of Amazons items. So again Amazon another big company who get the postage at a reduced rate due to the 50 million items they might send through Royal Mail, at again a cheap under priced rate.

Due to this big discount being handed out, private customers, the public have to pay a little bit over the top maybe 50p or £1 more than what the actual price is. If you look at eBay they automatically charge you for selling an item and deduct postage immediately… therefore they deduct £3-£4 for postage and your label is there ready…. regardless of courier. But they are not paying that amount to those companies for the postage, they get it cheaper due to bulk sending postage costs. Amazon are the same, doesn’t matter what size or item you buy it’s in and around the same price range, but they are paying cheaper moving and transport costs via Royal Mail to move these items around the country using Royal Mails service, this optimises Amazons profits ( richest owner on the planet ) whilst Royal Mail are mainly delivering parcels now due to the letter dying……. But Royal Mail have to pass this cost onto someone or somewhere…. It’s a massive surprise how much you save postage when you go into millions of items being sent, the public are funding this…. It’s a money making scam, but using the public to do it. That’s why it’s soooo expensive to post things now. Extortion as Royal Mail have sold themselves to big bidders who are getting this service for very cheap compared to the rest of us !!!

There doesn't seem to be a consumer rights issue buried anywhere within all that, perhaps better suited to this board:

What you seem to be describing is called business. If you sign upto Amazon Prime and only purchase a couple of items a year, then more fool you.
