Being put out of work.. Advice needed

Hi all & thanks for reading this.

I've recently turned 49 and through no fault of my own, I'm being put out of work as I was approached to join a company as my background experience was just what they were after. Move on several months later, they've told me that I've failed my probation and my last official day is Christmas Day.

Needless to say, I'm devastated as my last job, I was in for 16 years, and have always worked.

I am in a very fortunate position where I paid my mortgage off a couple of years ago.

my wife works part time and have 3 kids that still live at home (28, 26 & 18), my 26 year old has a diagnosis of ADHD and doesn't work, however, the other 2 work part time.

I have savings between, saving account, premium bonds & stocks & shares of about £13k, but also have credit card debt of about £3500, and a car of £30k

I also have a diagnosis of carpal tunnel and also duprytonns in both hands which could cause me a few issues depending what job I go for.

Can anyone please give me a bit of advice on if anything, what can I claim? how long does it take to claim? an I best going back work full time or part time?

Also, I would love to hear any advice on getting back into work if it be part time (with top up) or full time.

Many thanks for reading this and sorry for the rant as I feel that I'm at the end of my tether

There is a benefits Calculator here which will show what you are entitled to.

I’m also wondering why you were the only adult working full-time in your household? Now would seem to be a good time for the others to step up and contribute more to the household.

On the job front, what is the reason that you failed the probation, because  that could be a factor in what happened next job wise.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
