Assessing my pension Pot.

Dear forum.  My financial adviser has changed my draw down pension to a different pension fund.  Actually Aviva to Fidelity.  Apparently to make it easier.  Not sure who for.  It does not help me assess any changes to the overall fund.

I am extremely disappointed with the fact that I cannot look at my funds by a line graph or similar for trends (accumulative stocks and shares) and patterns together with fluctuations over a period time at my choosing.

The line graph provides a clear way of assessing the following, when reviewing my pension fund for example,

  • monies we have withdrawn since my retirement.
  • my monthly draw downs and any recovery with in the month.
  • whether a positive gain had been made in the day, week, month, or a period of my choosing,
  • where has the gain or loss has been happened during the year.
  • global influences, for example Covid, Putin, and Trump influences or even other significant events.

Fidelity cannot provide the history that I find beneficial in real time (a facility that I had previously). At the moment all I can see is an overall percentages of performance and subsequently individual funds.  This is not a visual graph and you cannot see the negative or positive tends.

I am sure that I am not the only one with a fidelity pension in this position.

Personally, their product or reporting process does not provide transparency (especially losses) to the client.

Can anyone tell me if they are in the same position, or is Fidelity progressing on providing a graph line in the future.

Just correcting the terminology, you have been changed to a different pension platform, the funds may or may not be the same.

You must have agreed to the change. Your adviser won't have done this without your consent. What were their reasons for recommending the change?

Who reviews them: you, your adviser or both? What matters to you: pretty graphs, or actual fund performance? Fund movements during the day...what value do you think that sort of micro-assessment based information adds?

Fidelity should be able to tell you - or possibly your adviser.

Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
