Making curtains

Here's my latest money-saving exploit: making new curtains for the dining room. We've just had the old window changed for French doors, so new curtains were necessary.
I went down to the Reading Fabric Warehouse, which had some really nice fabric at a reduced price. Even better, they had a special offer of free lining and heading tape with the fabric.
Making curtains is pretty straightforward, so out came the sewing machine and we now have some very smart new curtains, made to measure, at a fraction of the price I'd have paid if I'd ordered them from a shop.

I had to wait 2 years for mine to flower, it's worth the wait, they look nice dried when the petals have gone and the seed heads swell.0 -

Its a bit early for the flowers yet.........here in the midlands anyway.
the flower spike grows from the centre of the leaf group and it grows pretty quick once it starts, i wouldn't panic yet. expect flowers late July to September..They don't like being moved so plant them somewhere you can leave them for several years. ( or in a big pot )0
