Returning cosmetics

I bought 2 items at a clinique counter today. A foundation and powder. They were put on me instore by a clinique sales advisor.
Ive got home and my face is blotchy and the makeup is sliding off my face. I did tell her I have combination skin. Anyway, I havent used either of the items I purchased. Am I within my rights to get a full refund?
Thanks
Kerry

The general rule on cosmetics is that they can't be returned for hygiene reasons.
However I would go back to the counter and see what they say. I have in the past returned unused cosmetics which where the wrong type/colour from specialised counters.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
Clinique are usually quite good so go in and explain. Maybe take a pic of your face to show blotches incase they have gone by time you go back.

As Clinique don't do samples they do tend to say you can take products back. I buy my Clinique from a local Boots where cosmetics are generally not allowed to be returned but I have returned sealed Clinique items before. I would go in, explain what had happened, with a receipt and show that I hadn't used the products.:T Hurrah for MSE0

I do have a receipt with clinique on it that states that goods can be returned in their origanal condition within 28 days. It doesnt say anything about goods being exempt for hygiene reasons on the receipt and I didnt see anything in the store. I bet there is a little notice somewhere though.
If the refuse to refund me should I stick to my guns or just lose an awful lot of money:(. I should have just tried it out and gone back to buy it. What an idiot I am:o0 -
Stick to your guns! Like I say Clinique are usually very good in cases like this. Also its the fact that you had an allergic reaction to the product which will sway your case.
Let us know how you get on

Thanks everyone. They gave me a full refund with no problems atall. They did check the makeup had been unused and even told me to keep the free samples they had given me.
I have learnt a valuble lesson though and will not be buying any cosmetics unless I can get a sample to take home and try first or have a guarantee of a full refund.0 -
