State Pension Forecast

Approaching state retirement age (Feb 26). I have checked my forecast on the government website a few times over the last five years, last time was a couple of months ago. Always shows I will get the full state pension and over on the qualifying NI years.

At the end of last month, I received a letter from DWP about getting my state pension. Applied online and then a couple of weeks ago, decided to check my state pension forecast. Logged into my HMRC account and got a message "Sorry we are unable to calculate your forecast at the moment" and further down the page saying that their specialist team is checking my NI record to make sure my forecast is accurate, and I should be able to see it towards the end of December.

I tried again today to get the forecast and now get a different message saying that they cannot show my forecast online and I need to call them!

Is this normal process because I have recently applied to take my state pension and they have decided to check the previous forecast is correct?

Obviously concerned as I was expecting the full new state pension.

Is it actually possible for anybody to get a state pension forecast once he/she has actually received the invitation/access code and claimed the SP?

Surely at that point the calculations are being done and the recipient should  be expecting the letter giving  amounts and dates of payment?

Thank you for your response. I was checking that I would get what I was expecting based upon their previous forecast. Having not gone through this process, I didn't know that you cant still see your forecast once you have applied even though its a few months until receipt.

They did say that I would receive details 14 days before my pension date, but thats not ideal if they have changed my forecast is it?

Has anyone else had a similar experience (in respect of forecast no longer showing) after claiming their state pension?

As far as I know, nobody can see the forecast anymore, after they've claimed.

Sorry to nitpick but it's the state pension age (SPA), not state retirement age. Your retirement date is not determined by the state.

I stand corrected. Do you have anything helpful to add?

I am confused.  I am due to get my state pension in January.  I got my letter and applied online the same as you.  I received a letter 4 days later telling me how much I will receive as a first payment and when and subsequent payments will be every 4 weeks.  It sounds like you haven't had that as that letter is the definitive amount.  I have however just tried to check my forecast and it's all still there.  If you didn't get your letter after you applied I suggest you contact them

OP Probably the sensible thing to do is to call them.  They may just say Yes that's what happens for everyone.  Or they may say there is some issue.  If there is an issue it would be better to sort it out before you get to state pension age.  There are posts on here which suggests that everything takes a lot longer after state pension age.

Thank you. That’s helpful to know how it has worked for others. I’ll give them a call tomorrow as something seems amiss.

I've just had a look but can still see my forecast, despite having put in a claim a few weeks ago and had the letter back telling me how much to expect when I reach SPA early next year..
