I can't reach the new voucher spend of £90.00

  • The only real criticism that can be made of Tesco is that they have available the world's most sophisticated loyalty scheme with billions of datapoints that allows precise targeting of marketing material to individual customers - why waste the process on people who won't reach the required spend and therefore will not engage.
It looks at your typical spend on a large shop and sends you vouchers for the next highest threshold (in the retail industry these are called Spend Stretch vouchers).  You generally get 3-4 vouchers with some being ~15% discount and some being ~10% discount.

If you don't use any of the vouchers, in the next round the vouchers usually drop down to a lower threshold again.  In other words, the system is trying to find how far it can push you.

Your comment implies that every customer has a precise maximum amount they will spend - that isn't the case; lots of people will buy more to hit the required spend.

No, not at all. I agree entirely with your description of Spend Stretch but was just commenting that, in the specific case of the OP, the Stretch has been set just that bit too far away - hence their post.
