Food Cupboard Items Reduced.

My wife was in our local M&S Foodhall yesterday and noticed a few of their regular food cupboard items heavily reduced, could not work out why as the best before dates were up to 2027 on some items, can only think they are wanting to free up shelf space for Christmas stock.
Anyway it was nice to get some bargains on food cupboard buys at this time of the year.

Happens in most stores come November, much better margins on a pot/bottle of stuff packaged with a mug/spoon/glass and covered in pictures of holly, fir trees etc.3

Suppose it makes the logistics of whats going through the warehouses and lorries easier at a busy time of the year as well.flaneurs_lobster said:Happens in most stores come November, much better margins on a pot/bottle of stuff packaged with a mug/spoon/glass and covered in pictures of holly, fir trees etc.
Never seen it with quite expensive food cupboard items before though.0 -
Been caught this week by this. I like a particular brand of beer - Budvar Nealco 0.5 ABV - can be had for 99p/500ml at Home Bargains.
Not this weekend. Not in three different stores.
Unfortunately the booze section is particularly susceptible to "shove any bottle in an Xmassy box with a glass and double the price" shelf stuffing, elbowing out my not that popular beer.2 -
They do say absence makes the heart grow fonder so I am sure you will enjoy it all the more when it comes back into stock in January.
As a substitute could I suggest Erdinger Alcohol Free Wheat Beer which I find very nice, although its not a very money saving prompt.1 -
Lucky Saint have a (new to me) wheat beer, it's actually very good but their pricing is always rather aggressive.Eldi_Dos said:They do say absence makes the heart grow fonder so I am sure you will enjoy it all the more when it comes back into stock in January.

For something different can I in turn point you at Theakston's Nowt Peculier, which I found by chance in my local Sainsbury's, a very good attempt at the Real Thing (which I can just about remember).2
