Advice on Partial Settlement whilst on DMP

    Do not tell them that the money is coming from a family member.

    Have you received any offers of settlement from them previously?

    Its often a good point to make "My father has offered me this money if it will clear this debt." because if you have the money yourself, then perhaps you could be paying more to the debt, or perhaps you could offer more if they say No".

    Yes, always tell them that the money comes from a third party with the condition that it will clear the debt. Never say inheiritance or savings as they will want to know more details to see whether they can squeeze more.

    I agree. You are playing a game with them and you want them to think it's an opportunity they might miss out on, as well as giving them a reason they can use to tick their "we've checked it's affordable" box
