  • HMRC are forcing everyone from April to use one of these software packages. Both Xero and Freeagent are compatible.
    Irrelevant to OP.

Only the Self-Employed will only be forced into this, if income is high enough.

Government has previously said that similar plans for Ltd companies have been on hold indefinitely.

    Filing via commercial software

After 1 April 2027, the Companies House web filing service and paper filing route for accounts will close. These will, however, remain open for other statutory filings.

This means that all companies and LLPs will need to find a suitable software options before web-based and paper filing options are no longer available. This applies to directors who file accounts themselves, and companies who use third party agents or accountants to file their accounts.

The accounts of the following entities are within scope of these filing requirements:

    • All UK registered companies regardless of size
    • LLPs
    • Eligible overseas entities with UK operations
    • Charities registered as companies
    • Community Interest Companies (CICs)

I've had the misfortune of having used two umbrellas, both charged £75/month but that included by insurance
To be fair, for the liabilities that UCs take on plus the cash flow profile the businesses operate under, their fees are far far too low and it is difficult to see how any of the UCs actually manage to stay afloat.
I dont know, their cash flow isnt so bad as 97% of their costs are on a paid is paid basis so their exposure to non-payment is small, especially if they are dealing with IT types etc where the fee is such a small percentage of the day rate.
