It is because of a lack of social security agreements between the UK and the countries involved. It is nothing to do with the Commenwealth.spicer2 said:why a pensioner from uk retires to Australia a commonwealth country has pension frozen, but not in USA or EU what is the point of the commonwealth.

Might as well say "when a pensioner from the UK retires to Australia, a southern hemisphere country, has their pension frozen, but this doesn't happen in the EU or Jamaica, what is the point of the southern hemisphere?"0

Hardly, given 'The Commonwealth' is not a geographical descriptor...flaneurs_lobster said:Might as well say "when a pensioner from the UK retires to Australia, a southern hemisphere country, has their pension frozen, but this doesn't happen in the EU or Jamaica, what is the point of the southern hemisphere?"0 -
Indeed, but it has as much relevance to pensions freezing as the southern hemisphere does.hyubh said:

Well, I think that is obvious.flaneurs_lobster said:what is the point of the southern hemisphere?"
Without the southern hemisphere, all the stuff that makes up the centre of the earth would fall out into space and then the crust that supports the northern hemisphere would collapse in on itself and we'd all be doomed.
Fortunately, this is an equal gain situation as without the northern hemisphere, all the stuff that makes up the centre of the earth would all boil off and evaporate into space and then the crust that supports the southern hemisphere would collapse in on itself and they'd all be doomed.1 -
Hold on, I thought the earth was flat?

Totally irrelevant (unless Lord Vetinari's pension still gets annual increases if he moves to Australia).unforeseen said:
