Delurking to say Hi. I also read and follow your diary but don't post. Nice to see you back on the boards.0

Welcome back Nannyg! I followed your last diary and loved hearing about your day-to-day life although I am guilty of rarely posting any comments.1

I'm another one who reads but rarely posts. And who really enjoys hearing about people's day to day activities. I feel then like I'm not the only one keeping the MSE faith -which obviously I'm not but irl it can feel a bit like it“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Morning Nannyg,
I am another who enjoys reading about what you are getting up to.
Lovely to have you back

Thank you everyone for the lovely comments.
I love making lists in notebooks, on bits of paper etc although I don't always make them , the intention is there but depending what's on the lists and what I want to do first decides which list is taken seriously

I found quite a lot of fruit at the bottom of the freezer so I must delve into the recipe section to see their are any nice sounding cakes/muffins/puddings etc that I can make around Christmas time. I think I say this so many times but I love the time coming up to Christmas the decorations, cakes and all the pretty bits and bobs you can buy! I love going to see a panto, especially local ones and going to local church and school Christmas craft fayres.
Anyway today I went on a train to Birmingham to see my oldest friend, we meet up to exchange birthday and Xmas presents and keep in touch the old fashioned way of writing letters! We had a lovely time and went to a Thai restaurant for lunch (her treat!) which was really nice and not something I've tried before. I haven't been to Birmingham for a many years and the centre has changed somewhat, all the old buildings that we used to visit, library, churches, museums etc are now surrounded by very new modern buildings and all the little shops we used to go to donkeys years ago have gone, including my favourite independent coffee shop, there's trams you have to watch for and so many people!!!!!! I obviously don't get out as much as I used to
Anyway I don't think we stopped talking for the whole day and it was a thoroughly enjoyable time together.
On Wednesday I went shopping with list in hand and I actually kept to it!!! so I was within budget, but I must admit I had to stop myself putting other bits and pieces in my trolley and when I got the checkout I really thought I'd forgotten things as the bill was quite a bit lower (by intention) than normal, but according to my list I have enough with with what I bought and have in stores, so I've just got to convince myself to not go near another food establishment until next Wednesday!!
So I'm going to make another cup of coffee and read a few boards and see where my next train journey might take me - I wonder if Connie dog would like a try?

Ps does anyone know any simple recipes with amoretto in?

Today the weather has been atrocious here, wind and rain non stop but its probably the same everywhere if the news is to be believed, so I hope everyone is keeping warm and safe.
As I haven't been out anywhere it's given me time to think about things, and watch Utube!!!

and it's made me wonder if I'm looking at things the right way for me, well I suppose life not things. Have you ever looked back on your life and realised you have been so taken up with trying to hold it altogether that you loose years of your life? that's what I feel like to a certain extent. Years of being a one parent family on low income took so much energy and money juggling, that got out of hand when I tried to keep up with others, debt ensued, not a great amount but enough to keep me living in a permanent overdraft for years. I was so lucky that my eldest dd could see that I was struggling and helped me out and then I pulled it altogether and started living within my means and the rest is history and then I retired and I'm back to watching every penny again, but this time I'm better equipped. This time I'm frugal and watch my pennies and then gas & electric, council tax, water food etc have risen so much I feel as if I have gone backwards again but I don't have any debt, own my house and have good health so in comparison to many oap's I am well off and to clarify something, I have a very small private pension (literally a couple of pounds!) and receive pcredit but not the one where you have some help with council tax, the dentist etc)But it doesn't stop me feeling as if I've missed the boat!!! Anyway I haven't found any answers but after putting it all down on the page it's made me feel better and shown me if I want something enough, I have to put more effort into it and the rewards I'm sure will come, and watching gardening vlogs, frugal vlogs and mindful ones have all helped me to get back thinking sensibly!
Today I made a curry for tea and frozen three portions, I'm building a small stash of hm meals in the freezer so I always have something in. I picked a head of celery from the garden yesterday, so I chopped that up and froze it as well. Hopefully the weather tomorrow will be less wet and I can do some washing and get it dried outside and empty a bucket of potatoes so I have enough for the next couple of weeks.

Very jealous you’ve managed to grow celery

Thank you for the comments in your last post. It really hit home with me. I have lost about twelve years thanks to roommates - need to get it to stop as I don't have much time left. May need to start looking for the vlogs.4
