Farm buildings sold for housing - can I get my council tax band lowered?

We moved into our farmhouse in 1994 and in 2000 sold a substantial range of farm buildings which are now private houses. We have remained in Band G ever since we moved here so do you think we are entitled to have our tax band reassessed and on what basis would they reassess it? We are pensioners and very worried about the speculation that bands G &H will have their tax doubled.

Farm buildings were excluded from CT valuations so selling them off wouldn't lead to a band reductionIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales2

Some years ago it appea;ing council tax bands became a business with various people setting up to handle them. Two things came out of it - One - not every claim brought the result people expected, in some cases they found they were moved up a band - and became very unpopular with their neighbours as their houses also moved up a band. Second there were a lot of prosecutions as some of the companies set up charged an upfront fee and just took the money.I have not heard of it being done in recent times.1
