USS - 2025 valuation of DB?

Hi there.
I have a USS pension. I’m no longer an active member and my last contributions were at the end of December 2024. I have a DB and a DC element in the scheme.

Normally the DB amount is updated every year and is dated 31st March each year. This tends to happen in September and a statement is also added at this time. However, I haven’t had this for 2025. My DB amount last was updated on 31st December 2024 when I left the scheme.

Should I get a 2025 update for 31st March 2025?

Have other members had this?

For DB in general, you get a benefit schedule as at date of leaving. You no longer get annual benefit statements, in my experience anyway.

Usually true in the private sector, but not the public sector.

For USS this is on their website for deferred members:

You can find the value of your benefits at your date of leaving in
My USS or on your leaver statement. You can also use the Benefit Calculator in My USS to estimate the value of your benefits when you retire.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
  • Thanks.
I’d hoped that I would still get a benefit statement and an update each year as this is really useful.
The benefit calculator only provides estimates. What I want is the up to date actual value each year. It won’t be far out now, but in 10 years time it could be totally different to what I expect.

I think I might contact them and ask for an up to date valuation.

Log on to the uss website where that benefit calculator is located and look a bit further down the list of items to click on and you will find “My documents” and you should find your most recent benefit statement.

In the Civil Service scheme deferred members are entitled to one ABS per year free of charge but you have to request it. But of course rules may be different in other schemes. And I suppose another caveat is that I have been retired over 3 years so the rules might have changed.

For what it's worth I received my latest statement on September 29th. (I am an active member.) I am sure it wouldn't hurt to contact them and ask.
