National Insurance credits while not working

Hi Everyone
Some advice if you can. I ran my own business and have now stopped working and closed the business. I am not drawing a pension and am livinig from savings currently. I have three more years to fill for a full NI record to max the state pension. Can I gain credits for the next 3 years as I am not earning and am not drawing from pension? If not I assume that I should just buy three years worth when this is available?
