Pensions Attitudes Survey (Non-retirees)

Hello all,
We are a group of undergraduate students from the London School of Economics working on a Capstone project about attitudes towards pensions and retirement saving amongst non-retirees in the UK. The project is conducted in collaboration with an industry partner, but we are unpaid and the research is for academic purposes.
The survey is anonymous and should take 5-10 minutes to complete. The responses will be used to inform an academic report and presentation.
IMPORTANT: New Forumites are not allowed to post links, so please message this account or respond to this post if interested, and we will reply with the link.
As we are not professionals, we have not requested explicit permission to post this survey. However, we have been in touch with the forum team to confirm we are eligible to post on this board (provided that we adhere to forum rules).
Every response is very much appreciated and we thank you for your time!

You are posing your questions to members of this forum. You should be aware that this subsection of the public are likely to be far more knowledgeable about pensions and retirement planning than the general population and so you should be very careful about the relevance of the responses you receive as they are unlikely to be reflective of attitudes of the broader population.I am an Independent Financial Adviser. Any comments I make here are intended for information / discussion only. Nothing I post here should be construed as advice. If you are looking for individual financial advice, please contact a local Independent Financial Adviser.3

Thanks for raising that and it’s a really fair point! We’ll definitely take the potential bias into account when analysing the results. That said, we’re also very interested in hearing from people who are more engaged with financial topics, since your insights can really help us understand how informed savers think about these issues.HappyHarry said:You are posing your questions to members of this forum. You should be aware that this subsection of the public are likely to be far more knowledgeable about pensions and retirement planning than the general population and so you should be very careful about the relevance of the responses you receive as they are unlikely to be reflective of attitudes of the broader population.0 -

If you are looking for an extraordinarily bleak outlook into the generally poor attitude the general working public has towards pension provision, the article below relating to the UK' s largest occupational DC pension provider should provide considerable food for thought -
https://moneyweek.com/personal-finance/pensions/nest-pensions?utm_term=88C8D3AB-801A-4BA2-9121-A59535747136&lrh=729ccc0544986d89d4ca75a2cc0e78738e9a6c52dec9dc1d0eab4f12ebe5bf8f&utm_campaign=3854FBCB-FE1F-457E-9C9A-87C5805A0127&utm_medium=email&utm_content=7CF90AF5-2779-4F80-BBCF-8F1FB263C723&utm_source=SmartBrief
With less than 25% of the 13.5 million members actively contributing to the Nest scheme they were auto enrolled into, your study would have more relevance in examining the reasons behind this massive fall off in private pensions funding amongst the wider working public.
As indicated @Happyharry this forum by contrast, largely comprises of a tiny minority of individuals who have embraced the concept of building wealth and security into retirement, and are happy to share their thoughts and expertise with an equally tiny minority of individuals who at some point in their lives realise they have been neglecting this aspect of their financial affairs.
I would query the value of any research that seeks to examine the motivations and attitudes of a tiny minority in this important area, to gain some kind of 'read across' as to why the vast majority of workers appear to be apathetic by comparison.0
