No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries November 2025

  • @Hodgepodge it's hard isn't it!  I have one serum I want to repurchase that is running low, so I am waiting to see if they are doing a BF sale, but otherwise I am trying hard to resist.  I have another that is also running low, but my friend got a load of freebies at this ASOS event that she is going to give me, and I think one of those serums is meant to give a similar anti-aging effect so will use that as my regular's replacement this time round!

I did get a warm waterproof jacket and fleece lined walking trousers in BF sale though, but I need those for dog-walking this winter so don't mind having spent that money!

Also trying hard to resist - I really want some new eye shadows but  I will use up what I have

Three UU all though really were throw aways as I realised the nixon stuff irritates my scalp so threw away the scalp treatment and the conditioner.  Absolutely love my new hair topper so less stressed about hair falling out now.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
  • No more UUs for November

There are 6 items I am trying to use up, so hopefully will have more stuff gone from my stash soon
Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without

Uu- baylis and Harding 'bauble' bubble bath - WNBA - nothing special, just the name.

I don't think anything much helps with hair fall, unless you try minoxidil, which deffo isnt for everyone and doesn't always work anyway from what I hear!  I'd try it except we have a dog and it's meant to be very toxic!  Where did you get your hair topper from?

Unrelated note, I almost succumbed to buying a serum and an eye cream (both ones I've wanted to try for a while!) from TKMaxx yesterday.  Was only saved by the huge queue and deciding I didn't want them enough to queue for ages.... not sure that counts as a success on my part!  :D

I have tried toppers bought on line and always sent them back as they just didn't look great on me and looked so false.  I had almost given up when I went - almost as a last ditch - to Bear With The Hair in Essex   which was a fair drive for me and it took a whole day. I don't know why I went there but it was probably  my most successful day out.  I bought two, one I absolutely love and one I don't.  Interestingly the one I don't was the "starter" she suggested and now I have had it a while I am clear what I don't like. I will take it back and get it cut so it does work for me.

Having a real person to help made  a difference.  I adore having long blonde hair now :)   Interestingly most people just think I've had highlights put in!     The difference a great head of hair has made to the way I feel is  incredible!

  • In - two cream deodorant from Holland and Barrett. One was lemon and £5.95 in the sale, the grapefruit one was £10.95. I didn’t want to be greedy and buy all the lemon ones. WDBA.

UU - I have enough hand soap to last me a year or two. My delicate lady body skin can’t handle generic soap, I have to buy hand made all natural soap. Yes it gets expensive but it is what it is.

In - naughty purchase in Lush of a moisturing bar. I’m using it for foot soaks.

I must not go into town.

This sounds like it was really worth it then!  <3  And sounds like it was good to get more than one, to actually help you narrow down your preferences and what does or doesn't work for you!  I'm not at this stage yet, it's thinning but it's currently more something I notice than others would, but it's really good to know there are some great toppers out there, and that they can really help with self-esteem should it keep falling out!

Skincare/toiletries- ooooh, I got a bit spendy in Boots...... I had to go in to get some Christmas presents, and there were a few bits I was going to order in December for myself that are running low/I don't want to risk running out in Dec/early Jan (when the last thing I want to do is shop!), so I thought I might as well get it when I was there instead of arbitrarily wait a few days till Dec:

    INS
    • Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Oil Control Setting Powder - Translucent: Early replacement, but I don’t want to have to go to Boots or do a Boots order in December if I can help it!
    • L'oreal Lash Paradise Mascara- waterproof, black: ditto
    • Revolution Hydrate & Fix Fixing Spray 100ml: Ditto
    • Essence jelly GRIP HYDRATING PRIMER 29ml: Ditto, my ELF one is low.
    • Batiste Dry Shampoo. Medium & Brunette, Dry Hair Shampoo 200ml
    • Umberto Giannini Banana Butter Nourishing Superfood Conditioner 250ml: the Body Shop banana hair mask is my fave so hoping this smells as delish!
    • Garnier Moisture Bomb sheet mask- the green tea one.  Thought it would be nice in December when everything is busy, for a bit of me-time

AND because I spent a certain amount on skincare/toiletries (I got some Christmas presents for people too!), I got one of gift-with-purchase bag of freebies with random stuff in:
    • Natural Collection Clear Mascara and Brow Gel
    • Elf Halo Glow Beauty Wand Blush in Magic Hour: VERY bronzey for a blusher. I'm more a powder girl so may struggle to use this up,but will give it a go. Not sure if I need a new sponge or brush, or whether I could just use my fingers to apply…. We'll see!
    • L'Oreal Lumi Liquid Blush in shade 627 Glowy Warm Peach: ALSO quite bronzey, but less pigmented so might be better. Strange they put two liquid blushes in the bag!
    • Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Liner in 110- Spice: Never used a lip liner before.  Its at least a good colour for what I like on my lips, earthy terracotta-y

    UUs
    • Concrete Minerals Electric Eye Primer: Sadtimes, I don't think this company is in business anymore, can't find any of this primer in stock anywhere, and I have loved their eyeshadow primer for years!! :-(  I watched some beauty youtube and saw the Milani primer has good reviews, so I bought that in September (thought this would be finished sooner!), so I already bought my replacement for this a while ago.
    • Maybelline Fit Me Luminous & Smooth Hydrating Primer: Was a GWP. I quite liked it, left a nice smooth canvas for makeup.  As I didn’t purchase it I can't say I'd repurchase, but I'd think about getting it again.  Usually anything other than a grippy primer, if I have one, it's because it was a GWP- infact I have another GWP foundation I can move onto!
    • M&S Discover Women's Fragrance Discovery Set - Pink Pepper: nice but WNBA.

And I hit a pan in my Bella Beaute Bar - Poison Garden palette, in shade Opium Poppy. It's a beautiful light orange colour with a green shift- it's stunning!

  • oh damn, forgot- I also bought a lipbalm/chapstick!

    • NIVEA Hyaluron Moisture Plus Lip Balm with Hyaluronic Acid: My other Nivea chapstick is now below the line, so it's almost done and it no longer functions how I needed it to- ie handsfree lipbalm.  It now involves digging it out, so had to get another I can just apply.  I thought I'd try this hyaluronic acidy one, as its meant to be a bit plumping.

I have some items that are so close to finished but I'm eeking them out so I think they'll finish next month now.  November has been my worst month all year for both total number of INS AND the cost- 25 INS totalling £289.36, and only 10 UUs - OUCH!!!!!!!!!
