What a great goal for next year!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
I am struggling to process things at the moment. A friend is starting her cancer journey in the new year and then found out yesterday that someone I know was found dead in the morning. With it being Christmas, I don't kniw how long it will take to find out what happened but she leaves four very young children and I just can't comprehend it. I wasn't very close to her, closer to her family. I have a few things I need to do this morning before meeting a couple of friends but I am struggling to find the motivation.Live life next year (and now) has never felt more important!MFW 2026 No. 7 £400/£5000

Ah I'm sorry to hear about your friend starting cancer treatment soon, I've been through this with my best friend, I hope it all works out okay and she's not too poorly with the treatment. ♥️
Sorry to hear about the death too it's always so hard to process when it's a shock. It really does make you realise you need to live life not just exist when things like this happen around you.
Your house sounds lovely and like it's becoming a great home for you 😊♥️.Emergency Fund goal - £717.77/1500

It's funny, I have spent the whole year looking forward to the decorating in my house being finished, putting some Christmas decorations up and enjoying the festive season. I asked a friend to help me get the decorations down from the loft at the weekend (worries over what might be up there) but I can't be bothered to do anything with them! Off to have a shower, get the rest of the house in order and then decide what to do. I have some smaller decorations so it nothing else, I might go with those rather than the faff of putting the tree up.MFW 2026 No. 7 £400/£5000

For the first time in many years I don't have any financial aims for the year which feels strange. My long term one remains the same though, to continue working towards paying off my mortgage in June/July 2027.I started 2025 £1567 ahead of mortgage neutral and started yesterday £18586.76 ahead, considering I paid out a lot of money for decorating/carpets etc last year I am happy in this position. I still hve some more furniture to buy so there might continue to be slower growth over the next couple of months but by Easter I plan to be organised with this.My mortgage is currently £53972.73 and my total savings across all products is £72559.49.I don't know what plans I have for the house this year either. The only rooms left to make my own are the kitchen, bethroom and porch, there is nothing necessarily wrong with them they just aren't to my taste. I have a busy time work wise until Easter so I think the focus for the first quarter is probably to finish getting the furniture and enjoy my home where it is now. It has taken me so long to feel comfortable here that this aim is bringing me joy.The garden needs a lot of tidying and work but while I am in a job that doesn't give me much time and my hobbies take the rest of it, I am going to do my best to maintain and that is it. I am undecided whether to get a gardener to do some of this for me, for now I am going to try and do it myself. Not having much time is something to address but the next couple of months are not the time for that unfortunately.Personally I have a few things I want to work on. I pay to have my blood read through a company and one of the recent tests came back as something to follow up with my doctor. It might not be anything but once the surgery is open again next week I will pursue that. I would like to slim down a little as there has been a slow increase in the measurement around my middle, probably not lose weight as I am doing a lot of strength training so it is hard to gauge this. I have been seeing the physio for a while with a mobility problem but we are slowly seeing some progress now so as that gets better I hope to get back to swimming, which I love.My main aim is to live life as I said a few weeks ago. I have one body so am going to try and maximise its longevity while living more than I generally do.MFW 2026 No. 7 £400/£5000
