I've never paid anything to it as it's still the same amount as it was when I first received the first email just over 5 years ago.0

I set up a dd, when Perch took over but never paid a anything to it, or before they took it over , so never paid anything at all.0

Then the debt will be prescribed, and you should tell them so.

Hi, ive just found out that ACI send an agent to my door, I was out but they chapped my neighbours door to see if i lived there and asked what my surname was, she didn't say anything but can they do that?0

Not really no, is this the debt that is prescribed? have you told them its prescribed?
Under CONC fair debt collection practice, collection agents are not supposed to break data protection laws, but these 3rd party companies can be a law unto themselves.
Which company was it?
You can register a formal complaint with them for breach of GDPR, you can involve both the company concerned, and ACI as the client who engaged them.

"I've looked back and i did set up a payment plan last February, but cancelled the dd before i started to pay."
Were there any communications in writing about the debt, which may have acknowledged that you owed it before you set up this DD?0
