Advent calendars seem to have got out of hand!  When we were kids in the 80's, we'd be excited to see what picture we would get every morning.  Now you can get ones with £1000 worth of high end cosmetics in.  I did buy my partner a yankee candle one some years ago, think it was about £40.  But never again.  The link above is a nice idea, let's normalise memories instead of expensive stuff
My 3 adult children with children of their own now never fail to remind  me when Christmas comes round that that they had to share one between them. I was pretty skint back then.

December 1st. I added budget oranges and a bag of almonds £1.75 for 200g from the bakery aisle at Aldi to the groceries for Advent treats. I take a few to have instead of biscuits with tea at social meetings.

I had my pot of out of date cloves to use to make a pomander. It is on an old plastic plate on the kitchen radiator where it will scent the room as it dries.

We listened to Carols from Kings and wrote the Christmas cards for friends and family ready to post tomorrow. The list of cards gets a bit shorter each year, though there are a few more great nieces and nephews. I rewrite it in the back of the new journal as I take the cards down in Twelfth Night.

I have been doing a few Christmassy (free) online jigsaw puzzles. Finding pictures to use.  A good way of de-stressing.
