Thanks everyone. There's nothing in the links that says you have to have been registered in the year you want to pay, bizarrely.
I've registered now, so hopefully they'll let me pay class 2 in future, but I will ask about Pension Credit before I do that - if I EVER get through to them, sigh...0 -
So you will have records to complete the Tax Returns that you will be asked to complete?Riva114 said:Thanks everyone. There's nothing in the links that says you have to have been registered in the year you want to pay, bizarrely.

Why disn't you register 20 years ago - there was no trading allowance then and all self-employed were required to complete Tax Returns regardless of profit.0 -

If you don’t have a partner with a significant pension (because I believe it’s for a couple), you would be far far better off on pension credit than topping up if you have no other pension as you will get other passported benefits.Credit card 1768

Sorry, HMRC do not accept that anybody made 'so little money' on the basis of a phone call. Now you have retrospectively registered as self-employed, expect the thud of some Tax Returns through your letterbox in the coming weeks.Riva114 said:
