Legal Bank compensations

Hi so basically I wanted my name change as the first name was wrong but the last name is the same. And that is what I can take legal action still.

Anyways I wanted my name changed to just adding the word Singh on my Halifax statements in my first name to do that name change I was advised to bring student ID card via Halifax and of course the bank card.

I went to both Lloyds and Halifax and both refused because they said they couldn't accept student ID even though i was using it to replace my passport because I needed 2 ID of mine to do it.

I gave the opportunity to Halifax to do resolve via Live Chat or file a complaint, which they choose to transfer to a complaint specialist.

Anyways in the end they decided to put it on record just like any organisation does without consent and they offered £25.00 compensation i asked why and if they could increase the compensation they said because of the wrong info they provided and said I can only get a total of £25.00 increase.

So just to confirm is this how much a UK bank or a bank for the public in England could give for compensation?

Thank you. ( Not quite sure i should post with my full name on here as I was learnt stranger danger as a Gen Z student that's why I putted ' thank you ' on this post. )

There is no limit as such. That is all they are prepared to offer in this instance.

£25 for nothing is a good deal

Just to add it's not compensation. It has another name GAM👍

I'm not sure I follow this properly.  Are you saying you were told verbally that a student ID was valid, but it turned out that they couldn't accept it?  Whilst understandably annoying, I can't see why you feel you're due compensation.  You could perhaps legitimately claim the cost of travelling to the branch for what turned out to be a wasted journey; but aside from that, what financial loss have you suffered?
I think the "goodwill gesture" they've offered seems very reasonable.
And that is what I can take legal action still.

I'm not sure what you mean by this?
