Lidl Pay - What A Faff
Never associate with idiots on their own level, because, being an intelligent man, you'll try to deal with them on their level - and on their level they'll beat you every time.
Being hated by idiots is the price you pay for not being one of them.

That does sound really bad. So much quicker to unlock your phone, present it to the RFID and it pays using your credit card. No need to make it more complicated.

It would likely work in one scan if you present the card at the end of the transaction but that means you cannot see the coupons / discounts coming off as each item goes through.

You can't see the coupons / discounts coming off, but the till actually displays the actual total amount you are about to pay, including discounts, and gives you a last chance to either pay with Lidl Pay or review your purchase and pay in some other way.
It's no different than approaching a manned till with a figure in your head of what you're about to pay, and be ready to ask for a review and challenge the total before paying if there's a discrepancy. You could have added up each item in your mind as you walked around the store doing your shopping, for control. I do it every time.
I've used Lidl Pay a number of times and I think it's well done and it's a good compromise between convenience and security, and I like it.2
